In an
impressive ceremony that was enriched by unique dancing demonstrations of
students, it became Wednesday of 7 June 2000, in the Heraklion the Twinning
of 11th Primary School of Heraklion
with the School Coburg
West
Melbourne Australia. The twinning was sealed and it was made official with protocol,which they signed, from the side of 11th P.S. Heraklion, the Director Mr Antonis Koytentakis and from the side of Coburg West P.S. the Director Mr. Adrian Ross. Immediately afterwards the students presented symbolic events with regard to the Olympic Games and the discovery of the Australian Continent, the dancing group of School danced traditional dances and the chorus sang Greek songs. In the greeting to him the then Director of 11th Primary School of Heraklion, Mr Antonis Koytentakis reported below: "Another strong bond, is the engagement of two populations in the affair of freedom and human ideal. Here in this heroic land of Crete, they left their last blow 841 Australian soldiers and 3000 roughly were captured by the Germans fighting with the Cretan population for highest ideas. From today therefore dear colleagues of Australia and lovingly us children, we want you feel our school here in the Heraklion, as your own house. We
will be glad particularly to us is given the occasion to meet itself personally
also not only via correspondence simple or e-mail,
to tighten the hands, to be embraced and you to entertain, as we we know.
We would also like,
to visit you in Australia, to discover
your own culture , that persons that from and beyond are today considered
fraternal. Front I finish, I want to be addressed in the colleague of
Director of School in the Coburg Adrian Ross and in the colleague Mrs
Efi Evaggelatou and
tell them that from
that it can conclude from up to today our collaboration,
they constitute important
members of Australian
education and they really diserve
congraculations. |
